IBM Acquires Seek AI to Bolster watsonx AI Labs in New York

IBM has acquired Seek AI, a New York-based startup specializing in natural language processing for enterprise data queries. The deal, announced Monday, will integrate Seek’s technology into IBM’s newly launched watsonx AI Labs accelerator in New York City.

Seek CEO Sarah Nagy stated the acquisition will enable scaling of their AI platform to deliver mission-critical solutions for IBM clients. The startup’s chatbot-style interface allows business users to interact with complex data systems using plain language—a capability that will FORM the foundation of IBM’s expanded AI initiatives.

The acquisition underscores IBM’s strategic push into agentic AI systems that can autonomously extract value from corporate data troves. Seek, founded in 2021, brings both proprietary technology and a growing team of AI developers to IBM’s ecosystem.
